Yet More Bird Art

My ceramic artist friend has been busy!  Last we heard, I relieved her of her two sole display pieces shaped as birds.  I rather liked the pieces and somehow the subject of additional ideas came up.  This Monday, I first laid eyes on five new concepts.  Unfortunately, the glazes did not all work as planned.  The Ruby Throated Hummingbird at far right has a neon green breast and no gorget red (that glaze went really wrong!), but the shape is spot-on.  At far left is a fairly recognizable Eastern Bluebird.  The breast is a little too brown.  But otherwise, I thought it nice work.  Evidently the bottom bird was meant to be a Mourning Dove.  I suggested that it could live anew as an Eastern Bobwhite quail!  And I pronounced the mystery bird at top a Eurasian Collared Dove.  And I'm sticking with that.   The star of the show is at center.  Recognize it?  That would be a Painted Bunting, found in places on our coast.  So our ceramic-birding inspirational partnership is yielding up some informed artwork.  I am looking forward to additional specimens!  And just maybe...some will end up here!
