More Empties

The fall nest box cleaning has come and gone.  Suffice to say, there wasn't much to clean out this year.  We have ten boxes (and bottles) available in a variety of habitats, from open area to the thickest part of our woody buffer zone.  I already knew about two House Wren efforts---one destroyed, one permitted.  The rest of the box score was 000000000.  Literally no activity discerned at all.  Even the box where I was convinced White Breasted Nuthatches had holed up didn't look like a real deal.  So we move on to 2013.  And with my usual optimism I'll hope for bluebirds, nuthatches, and wrens---in my bird bottle.  Too bad there are four plus months to see what might happen...
