Trying For Rufous

It's off season.  There is one nectar feeder left, at least until January.  And the target? Rufous Hummingbirds.  These hummers are increasingly observed in our Piedmont County and I have taken a stab at attracting one for several years.  What a score that would be for us! A winter hummingbird! something to brag about and enjoy.  But the trick is attracting one.  We don't exactly have a lot of flowering plants or flying insects in the winter.  But neither are there a great deal of nectar feeders, either.  So the hope is a growing population of birds pushes just far enough to spot my cheery station and visit for the cold months.  A fantasy? you never know.  It is worth one more try...
